You Can Make a Difference -- Right Here, Right Now
Dear Smart Growth Supporters,
As you read this, our leaders are still struggling to agree on climate change solutions in Copenhagen. But back home, we’ve been working locally to shrink our region’s carbon footprint for twelve years – winning implementation of key solutions like walkable neighborhoods and better transportation options.
We're holding out hope for a strong outcome in Copenhagen. In the meantime, make a difference here at home -- right now -- by supporting the work we do and the sustainable vision of the Washington region we promote.

In 2009, we worked here at home to address climate change by:
- Winning approval of the Purple Line light rail, which will take tens of thousands of cars off our roads
- Rallying support for Metro funding while seeking key accountability reforms
- Shaping the Tysons Corner plan to make sure it’s green and sustainable
- Influencing transportation stimulus spending to favor maintenance, transit and bike/pedestrian needs
- Championing passage and final implementation of an important affordable housing policy in DC, creating more housing opportunities closer to jobs
Be sure to read our 2009 Year in Review for more highlights of our work.
We've been recognized twice by the prestigious Catalogue for Philanthropy as being one of the most effective nonprofits in the region, so you be confident your dollars are used wisely.

Sincerely,
Stewart Schwartz, Cheryl Cort, Lauren Campbell, Chris Orvin, and Rebecca Perring
