Support a Great Plan for Our Region's Future
Dear Smart Growth Supporter,
Before you leave for the holiday, please take just a minute to support a great regional planning effort called Greater Washington 2050.
We know regional planning isn't quite as exciting as turkey, stuffing, and football, but it's really important for the future of our home, the Washington Region.

Our elected officials at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) took a hard look at the many challenges we face. They came up with a plan, based on public input, to ensure the Washington Region remains a competitive, green, and desirable place to live. The plan prioritizes:
- Sustainability
- Mixed-use walkable development
- Affordable housing
- Investment in education, health care and jobs
A Fresh Approach vs. the Same Old
GW2050 is an integrated and comprehensive plan for the future. Yet the highway lobby has launched a campaign saying that expensive new highways should be the centerpiece of this regional plan. That highway focus and lack of attention to good land use planning is what got us into the mess we’re in today. It's time for a new approach.
